Low Vision Glasses In San Jose
What Are Low Vision Glasses?
Escoop Glasses
E-Scoop glasses are specially patented glasses that are engineered to provide slight magnification, increased contrast, and overall improved center vision by shifting the image away from the part of your eye with impaired vision, to the healthier part of your eye. The E-scoop is considered the step between regular glasses and telescopes.
Magnified Readers
A simple option for those with low vision who would like to read are magnified reading glasses. These relatively inexpensive glasses provide a wider field of view than handheld and stand magnifiers, are portable, and are hands free.
The main drawback of these glasses are they require the reader to hold the reading material very close to their face which is uncomfortable and often times difficult. In many cases holding the reading material close can also block light, which is essential for people with low vision.
Binoculars placed into eyeglass frames are called Telescopic Spectacles. They can be monocular (one eye) or binocular. The telescope can be placed in various positions depending on what the vision needs are and do not require holding the reading material as close to your face.
