Can Telescopes Really Help Me?
Have You Been Told There Is Nothing That Can Be Done?
One of the most common statements we hear is “But my doctor told me there was nothing that can be done”. While from a treatment perspective many eye diseases such as Macular Degeneration cannot be “fixed”, however there are many new products that will enable a patient with low vision to live their lives independently and doing the things they enjoy.
Telescopes are custom made optics that sit on your regular glasses, your eye doctor will help the patient focus on the things they miss the most and create lenses that will allow them to do them again. Our patients are amazed that they can read, play cards, go out with friends, see their grand kids faces and much more.
What Are Low Vision Telescope Glasses?
A low vision telescope is a small telescope that is attached to regular glasses. They are specially made to help the patient perform the task they desire to accomplish.
By attaching the telescopes to glasses with the existing prescription, the wearer is able to correct for their other vision problems such as myopia while correcting for their main visual impairment such as central vision loss caused by macular degeneration.
One of the main advantages of low vision telescopes over hand held magnifiers is that the wearer is hands free and able to enjoy life to its fullest.
